Together with the Escuela Nueva Foundation we transformed the education of more than 500 children in Tauramena, Casanare

More than 520 children in primary education in rural areas of Tauramena today have better learning opportunities thanks to a partnership between GeoPark and Escuela Nueva Fundamos a la Gente, which implemented the Escuela Nueva Activa pedagogical model for 12 months in seven rural schools in the Regional Center for Research, Education and Extension (CRIEET) network.

The project installed four fundamental capacities that will transform rural education:

  1. Curricular: providing pedagogical guides and materials that promote active and collaborative methodologies.
  1. Management: promoting more autonomous, organized and quality-oriented institutions.
  1. Teacher training: teachers were empowered as leaders of change through workshops, continuous accompaniment and classroom monitoring.
  1. Community: families and communities were involved in the educational process, strengthening the social fabric.

“This project gave us more tools, knowledge and the motivation and confidence to continue building a quality education for our children,” CRIEET rector Jhon Faver Ruiz said at the partnership’s closing ceremony, which was attended by community representatives, officials from GeoPark and the Escuela Nueva Foundation, and delegates from the respective Departments of Education of the Government of Casanare and the Tauramena Mayor’s Office.

For our Social Prosperity Coordinator Diana Torres, this effort has meant much more than providing materials or training teachers. “We sowed the foundations for education to become a real engine of transformation in seven rural locations in Tauramena. We achieved this by joining forces with strategic partners, authorities and our neighboring communities, so that learning leaves its mark beyond the classroom,” she said.

“It is very pleasant to work with GeoPark in a commitment that has evidence, results and a real impact on the quality and equity of education in rural areas,” said Clarita Arboleda, Development Manager at Escuela Nueva Fundamos a la Gente.

We underscore our commitment to shared prosperity in the territories we operate in, promoting projects aligned with local development plans, which generate positive impact and sustainable solutions. We will continue to promote initiatives that facilitate access to quality education as a basis for sustainable territorial development.
